Thoughtful Thursday: “Let Go” by Kory Miller (Music Review)

God in His wondrous love for us, demonstrates the gift of God that has been freely bestowed upon the world. Through the death of the perfect deity of Christ, we have been given the opportunity to be made whole in Christ.

The eloquent musical/lyrical masterpiece “Let Go” by Kory Miller, beautifully pieces together the depths of God’s love for us through every word he sings.

“I’m not afraid of the tension that you’re feeling. There’s no need to hide. Let Me hear all your questions, I have healing for your anxious mind. Won’t you please come home?”

These lyrics translate the desperate plea God has for His wandering sheep who are afraid of surrendering their all to the Almighty. The all-knowing, endless mind of God already knows all of your doubts, fears and weaknesses. He is able to carry the hurt you’re feeling in exchange for the life He offers. Come to Him; His yolk is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).

“Cause you’re on the edge of something beautiful. Won’t you just let go? Yeah it’s better than what you dare to hope. All you have to know – I love you.”

Though the mystery of surrender is daunting when faced with your burdens, the life Christ gives is so much greater than anything that drags you down.

To close, Kory sums up the gospel in my favorite lyrics from this song singing:

“You’re worth the life I chose to give. You’re worth the price I paid to bring you in. I never second-guessed my death that you should live – I love you.”

The selfless love of God, shows humanity that irregardless of our human weaknesses, He is there with His hands out ready to catch your broken pieces and make you whole in your Creator’s love.
