Poetry: Let Him In

There He stands
Knocking at the door of your heart

Do you feel it?

Your heart is torn asunder
The sharpened glass has cut through the trust you once gave

Like a pledge

The dust has settled in all the places it shouldn’t
Though your heart is unsettled

The paint has covered every mistake written on the walls
The cold – whispers lies of torment into the cracks

The shadows have hidden your guilt
Behind chairs and couches

Complacency quivers at the bottom of your lip
In hopes the comfort of flimsy familiarity and lazy humility are enough

The hand of mercy knocks…
The walls of your heart are shaken

Allow the light of Christ to shine
Through all of your pain

Open the windows
Let His grace flow through the inmost depths of your heart

He will fill you

He will make you complete

Open the door,
Let Him in.
