Thoughtful Thursday: “Beautiful Insanity” by Mercy Gordon (Music Review)

In retrospect of Christ’ resurrection anniversary, today’s post will be focused on the great mercy of God. The song that inspired this post is called, “Beautiful Insanity” by Mercy Gordon.

In her beautifully eloquent lyrics, Mercy emphasizes the wonder of God’s love for us, “Every time I think of who you are and all you’ve done, I’m captivated by the thought that you desire us.” Her angelic voice matches the emotional output. 

Truly, the reality that God Almighty; our one true messiah, desires to be united with mere humans enamors me. He desires so deeply to be reconciled to us as His family in relationship to Him, that He sacrificed Himself to save our souls. God’s mercy was strong where our strength lacked. 

“This mystery never stops confounding me
My God wants perfect unity
I’m undone – what beautiful insanity
That my God is so in love with me
My God abounds in love for me
What beautiful insanity”

Our God is a mystery unfolding at every breath He gives us. Praise God for His wonderful mercies and great treasures. The greatest gift of all is to be one with the maker of the universe.
